Industrial Society and The Absence of The Future:

He believed that the Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been disastrous for the human race. He believed that technology has had a destabilizing, destructive and alienating effect on society and all of its individuals. Disconnecting us from everything important in life; our bodies, our environments, our social communities, our land, our biology, our history, our very being and existence.

He argued that most people spend their time engaged in unfulfilling, useless and even destructive pursuits because of technological advances. He referred to these as "surrogate activities" wherein people strive towards “artificial goals”.

”These activities serve only to distract us from our existential dread, from the lack of meaning, from all the destruction and suffering we are causing to nature and all of its inhabitants, from our self-imposed apocalypse.

This barbarity of modern civilization which subordinates individuals, social relations, animals and the environment to the goal of capital accumulation, growth and hedonistic (but ultimately empty) pleasures is despicable, inconsistent, human-centric, completely unsustainable and ultimately anti-life. As a consequence we must adopt a primitivist, “non-civilized” and tribal way of life. It is necessary to deindustrialize society, to abandon modern technology and to resacralize our relationship with nature in order to combat environmental degradation, social alienation, the unnecessary suffering of other species / living entities and the inevitable collapse of our entire eco-system / basis for living”.
